MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
I'm off to the Federation of Maori Authorities Conference this weekend to check out all the exciting things going on in the Maori economy, and I will report back on this in the next issue.
Since launching the ExportNZ election manifesto we've had some good feedback from the political parties. I'd encourage exporters to ask the politicians on the hustings how their party would boost the sector if they were in government.
I look forward to catching up with you in the next issue - when we'll know who is leading New Zealand for the coming three years...

The Powering Innovation report, based on the findings of an independent panel - comprised of Phil O'Reilly, AUT University's Professor John Raine and Professor Mina Teicher, led to the Government's recent announcement that, should it be re-elected this month, it plans to boost investment in the science sector and transform Industrial Research Limited (IRL) into an advanced technology institute that will function as New Zealand's "high-tech HQ".
This is very exciting news - it's something BusinessNZ has been promoting for years, and greater investment in R&D formed a key part of our election manifesto. C Beard

Looking ahead to GoGlobal
Book in 22 March 2012 in your diary now for the best ExportNZ conference yet.
We have scheduled it the day after the NZTE International Business Awards so companies coming to Auckland will be able to stay the night and attend GoGlobal the next day.
In addition, we are working with NZTE to have some of the offshore Beachhead leaders, particularly from Australia, China and India, attend the conference, so the line-up of speakers will be very high quality.
